CARACAS .- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, appointed Rodolfo Marcos Clemente as the new minister of Public Bank, as published in the Official Gazette on Tuesday, in what amounts to the third change in his cabinet this year.
Mark Clemente, who held the post of National Treasurer since last January, will also assume the chairmanship of Banco de Venezuela (formerly Banco Santander, acquired in 2009 by the Government), positions he held his predecessor Humberto Ortega Díaz from February 2010.
Ortega Díaz confirmed to the newspaper "El Universal" leaving both posts for "health reasons". In the Gazette today also confirmed the appointment of Claudia Patricia Díaz Guillén, until now Treasurer, as new National Treasurer in place of Mark Clemente.
This is the third cabinet reshuffle carried out by Chávez since early this year adding to the new appointments in the Education and Trade portfolio.
On 2 February, the President Maryann Hanson appointed as Minister of Education, replacing Jennifer Gil, and Edmee Betancourt as new head of Trade, in place of Richard Canan.
