Buenos Aires .- A court Argentina condemned to life imprisonment of eight former members for the murder of 11 political prisoners in the northern province of Chaco during the last dictatorship military (1976-1983), while the ninth defendant acquitted by these facts, the former policeman Luis Alfredo Chas.
The Oral Criminal Court Federal Resistance, capital of Chaco, gave the maximum sentence for former military Gustavo Athos, Horacio Losito, Segon Aldo Martínez, Jorge Daniel Carnero Sabol, Ricardo Guillermo Reyes, Emilio Riquelme Germain, Ernesto Jorge Luis Alberto Simoni and Patetta, according to the Judicial Information Center.
The former military officers were convicted of "aggravated murder by premeditation and the number of members" were made for 11 people, in competition with the exercise of unlawful deprivation of freedom aggravated. The so-called
slaughter of Margarita Belén, by the name of the town of Chaco, where the facts were recorded, 22 prisoners politicians were killed on December 13, 1976, according to human rights organizations, although the Army deaths justified then a clash between rival rebel groups.
